Kühlungsborn liegt nämlich eingebettet zwischen Ostsee, dem Naturschutzgebiet Kühlung und einem herrlichen, fast 6 km langen Sandstrand. Und wer zum ersten Mal diesen einladenden Ort betritt, spürt dieselben Emotionen wie in Garmisch-Partenkirchen: Endlich Urlaub für alle Sinne! engl. ⁄ Ever since 2010 Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the seaside resort Kühlungsborn by Mecklenburg’s Baltic Sea shore have been maintaining a touristic partnership – with a lot of passion, soul and active ‘relationship building’. Because, contrary to what the first impression might suggest, the two health resorts have more in common that you’d think. Up north and far south – a long distance relationship, connected by a common line of longitude: Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Kühlungsborn first noticed their mutual attraction and diversity at the Tourism Fair in Göteborg in 2010. What they also noticed

were the things they have in common, both holiday destinations offer their guests inimitable landscapes and atmosphere, a long tradition as summer resorts, an especially healthy climate, a similar guest structure and a diverse range of overnight accommodation and leisure time activities. So ever since 2011 mutual visits, common events and marketing campaigns are the ties that bind the alpinemaritime friendship. Smoked fish meets Weisswurst One example would be a great festival that takes place in Garmisch- Partenkirchen once a year, where Mecklenburg’s biggest seaside resort takes its wicker beach chairs, musical entertainment and Nordic specialties down into the South of Bavaria. This relaxed family event really makes its guests want to dig their toes into the sand – and not only at Beachclub Mohrenplatz but at the life-sized ‘original’ location, too. Kühlungsborn is situated between the Baltic Sea, the nature reserve Kühlung and a wonderful, nearly 6 km long sandy beach. And those who first arrive at this wonderfully inviting place, the same emotions as in Garmisch-Partenkirchen surge: finally, a holiday for all senses!
