L.L. ⁄ Individuality and privacy are important buzzwords today. Would you say holiday houses where demanding guests want for nothing are the ideal form of accommodation for the future? K.L.M. ⁄ Well, I wouldn’t put it that way, privacy, however, is a very important thing. Especially nowadays where everything is accelerated and multitasking is a must; leisure time and quiet have become more precious than ever. For some they might even be more precious than money or material values. J.M. ⁄ Especially the time spent with family and friends than you planned for yourself. Not the time with strangers you meet at the hotel. The chalets are still going to remain a niche product though. K.L.M. ⁄ Yes, a niche product that’s ideal for someone at a certain time and phase in their lives. But it’s no competition for the hotel. L.L. ⁄ What type of guests prefers the private atmosphere of a chalet? J.M. ⁄ It’s mostly people who travel a lot for work during the year and who thus spend a lot of time in hotels. On holiday they prefer to be more secluded. And families who live in different countries or even on different continents like the homey atmosphere of a timber chalet when they go on winter holidays together. L.L. ⁄ At the lodges there even are personal assistants who are at the guests’ disposal. Have there been curious special requests the house-elf service has had to deal with? J.M. ⁄ Our guests really appreciate the service and have reacted well to it, also because we get in touch with them a long time before they arrive. Discretion is part of the concept. We help whichever way we can. 86 L.L. ⁄ The Bergschlössl and the chalets are open all year round. So do you think focusing on the wintertime alone will not suffice in the future? J.M. ⁄ It’s probably not necessary to keep the place open in summer otherwise there wouldn’t be so many businesses that close. But it think is provides a better equilibrium. Eventually everyone has to decide the rhythm they want to live by, though. I think the town would certainly profit from it if a certain core of businesses were to remain open all year round and I do think that St. Anton is worth a visit every month of the year. As far as traffic infrastructure is concerned we are very well connected to the rest of Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland, we have great event locations – so the infrastructure really is very good. Thanks to the ‘Sommercard’ it is
now communicated that there are lots of things do to here outside the winter months. L.L. ⁄ And now let’s quickly put the job aside: where do you like to spend your holidays? J.M. ⁄ Well since we have three children that are between 2 and 7 years old, our radius has become somewhat smaller. All the more do we value visits with friends and family. We think it’s important for the kids to get to know their home before they go out and see the wide world. After all they do need places to discover when they’re older!
